Shooting Through Perspex

I know the best way to shoot air-air is to use the camera out in the freestream, but is there a way one can reduce ideally eliminate the glare and reflection when shooting through an aircraft window or canopy?

Would a polarised filter work?

A piece of foam rubber about half inch thick with a hole for the lens, sized according to your taste but the idea is that it cuts out reflections from inside the cockpit. It folds into a small space as well. Dont rest the lens on any part of the aircraft,to cut down vibrations .

And apt to draw admiring glances (there are some funny people out there).

Same rules apply then, even more so.
Because the reflections will ‘grow’ larger.

Wear stockings if you like, but remember they are a fire hazard 🙂

Thanks Jorgo – am thinking in particular of a bubble canopy that has a bad habit of reflecting light from all around the cockpit.

I remember Hairyplane telling me to shoot through a pair of stockings. 😀

I don’t use a polarisor myself.

But, dark or Black clothes, both for you and any other crew on board, to minimise reflections. Black gloves too !!

Be aware when the sun is directly behind you, it will illuminate your cockpit.

Clean the windows 🙂
