Shoreham aerojumble & cockpits

Any one know which aircraft cockpits will be attending Shoreham Aerojumble next week? I believe that this is a new thing for this years aerojumble, hope its sucessful! Would also be nice to see an increase in traders this year, seems to have been slowly declining in recent years but none the less still very much worth attending.

I might still have the stencils we used for our one.

I will have a look at the weekend – we made them up at Duxford, so that might be another avenue…!

Need anything for the cockpit??

Bruce

But the stencils- if we could borrow them- would be dead handy – thanks Bruce!

Hi Bruce and Rocketeer – thanks very much for your kind offer of bits all we need are the gaiters really, the rest of the aircraft is pretty complete inside – but thank you very much for the offer of bits –

All the best

well thanks for that – had no idea – she is very sexy from the outside – and now after lashings of elbow grease, a wee bit better inside! Hopefully a forumite has some gaiters for us, in which case she’ll be quite tidy in the cabin too…

Brooklands overhauled 350 Vamps at Sywell in the 50’s so thats why we hunted her down y’see…

I have a complete vampire stick and top

Thanks mate! Put the cheat line on yesterday – looks great (but dont know how long it will last – used that self adhesive stuff from Halfords… if no good will do a ‘proper job’ and paint it at the end of the year) could do with some help on any stencilling wording though, location etc -if you could help that would be fab – by way of return we have Mossie pilots notes for about 5 marks – could copy them for you? Brooklands overhauled the TT ones y’see….

I’ll have a look and see what I have – I might have some spares.

You also need a black cheat line between the white and the grey on the cockpit! Technically, the red markings should be dayglo – Stuart copied my idea of using red, as it lasts rather longer…

We bought it from North Weald but it was from Stuart Gowans – so it could have done but he didnt mention it – it is superb from the outside, but was grotty inside (albeit the majot chunks are inside) have given it a general spruce up but do need some control column gaiters – does anyone have any spare?

TT

It was actually Cockpitfest 2003 when Stuart displayed it and it won 2nd prize if memory serves.

Didn’t Stuart win an award for that (ex-Welshpool) one last Cockpitfest ?

We may bring our Vamp but we are Cockpitfest virgins and i doubt she’ll be up to the standards on show!

TEXANTOMCAT, the condition doesn’t matter a jot. To be honest we could do with a few more attending that are “work in progress” or “not quite finished” in order to give visitors a feel for the huge amount of restoration work that goes on behind the scenes. I’ve always felt that just displaying lovely, shiny, restored cockpits doesn’t do justice to the efforts people put into them. My Hunter is in a hideous state of disrepair so if I do manage to get it there it will scare the life out of small children I can assure you!

Hi
Although not a trader , for me it’s to far , travelling the south coast road from devon to arrive in a reasonable time.
Lack of punters will lead to lack of traders, maybe a two location aerojumble might be more succesful, maybe a move to a different more central location may help ? Somewhere around the bristol area would be accessable to many more , and has great roads around it, easy access for south west, wales , north M5, M4 corridor etc, isn’t there an airfiled just north of bristol, nr gloucester ?
cheers
Jerry

Jerry,

I ~may~ consider taking a cockpit, and as i’ll be also travelling from Devon, perhaps we could pool resources on this ? And there may yet be a third person/cockpit travelling up too ?

Cheers…….

Hornet F.1

Mark

I will be taking the Hornet F.1 to cockpit fest. It will be a “work in progress” though. But I’m sure that people will appreciate seeing the exposed detail along the way, before everything gets covered over and hidden.
