Shoreham Aerojumble – Sat 1 October 2011

With Popham now behind us, an early date for your diary!

The next Shoreham Aerojumble will be held on Saturday 1 October at the usual Shoreham Airport location. This will be the second 2011 event at Shoreham, although after October our intention will be to run the aerojumble there just once a year on the last Saturday in March unless that coincides with an early Easter when it will be moved to the Saturday before or after.

Very pleased that so many people seemed to get some good items, and that the stallholders reported on doing so well.

The organisation for the next one in March 2012 is underway, although there will only be one Shoreham aerojumble per year from now on, ie the March event.

My only grumble about the jumble, is that I didn’t find anything for my project :(. Infact the only thing I bought “apart from a very expensive cheeseburger”, was a Windsock datafile.
Apart from that, it was a great day, I met up with a couple of old friends, & got chatting with some one about Bristol F2b’s :D, I even made a couple of quid as well.

CHEER’S ANDY.

Thanks for an excellent day out Andy, old friends, new faces and some useful bits. Highlight was this little treat which was recovered from an aged relative’s school friend’s loft. Have seldom smiled so much.

As always great day out Andy! Walked out with a control wheel for a BEECH 18 and an original framed class photo of the pilots of 42 Squadron, RFC Royal Flying Corps circa 1917 at Hounslow airfield.

Plently of other tempting goodies which I relunctantly left behind! Me108 sticks and Vickers Valiant yoke to name but a few. Hope to have an outside stall there next year to get rid of some surplus stuff! Thanks again.

As always one of the best days in the calendar for me, there is still plenty of superb stuff available with none of those nasty postage charges and broken items. A great social event and as always you come away with a little more knowledge than you went with, not to mention the steaming hot weather clearly the jumble gods favour SHOREHAM AIROJUMBLE.
My Hurricane erxcape door was much admired sorry chaps but that ones not for sale :diablo:
One particular gem I bought so far it has been suggested its from a glider but no positive ID as yet. It has a steel frame with a wooden seat pan and is fitted with a harness release inertia unit.

Thanks all!

Looking forward to Sat 31 March 2012. A date for your diaries.:)

The date has been long pre-set, so hopefully no complaints this time that other aviation collectors events clash with this one!

Am glad that one and all seemed to enjoy the day!

Thanks to stallholders and visitors for making it all work. It was pleasing, too, to know that many had good finds and good sales.

Now I know why I do it. Meeting up with a great bunch of guys, having lots of laughs and banter and the general ‘nice’ feel of what is becoming almost more of a social event for those of kindred mind and spirit than anything else!

Great, too, to see a goodly number of visiting aircraft flying in to the event.

Thanks everyone. I’m off to bed. Breakfast at 04.00 seems like a mighty long time ago!

Great day Andy….superb weather (Did you pay for that ?), excellent crowd of friends and punters, made a few bob, and enjoyed the banter and all that goes with a ‘live’ aeromart.
Hope you did OK Andy and family..you deserve to…well done…I’ll be there in March.

Great Day

Thanks to all the organising staff. It was a first visit for me and most enjoyable. We were wheels up from Oakley at 11-00 am arriving Shoreham 55 minutes later, still in time to look around and we found some Proctor related items. Pleasing to have a set of new old stock WW2 recognition lamps. These will be used in the Mk 3 LZ791 (G-AKEX) which we have decided has to start her new flying career in her wartime ATA colours. We also located an original bakelite flight panel fuse holder and purchased a gross (144) one inch brass screws for £3-00!! The national DIY chains supply 25 for the same price! A pleasant flight home, skirting Headcorn, Rochester and Southend for a straight in to Oakley on 09. Looking forward to the next jumble.

Yeah – just cycled all the way there and back for nothing…….which was good ?
Although, I confess to being last one there and nearly the last one out ; except ofcourse Steve Ricard – who I guess is still looking for that elusive bargain !
Off in a miniute to dig another Hurricane…..

Just come back from the aerojumble, another great day, spent hours browsing through the stalls, I thought it was well attended. Couldn’t understand why we had to park so far away from the stalls though, usually you can park right next to the stalls and I think this tended to happen as the day progressed. However this is a minor grumble. Saw some good stuff for sale Shackleton seats,
complete
meteor and Canberra instrument panels, ju87 grip, quite a few ww1 and ww2 props, couple of ejector seats, lots of instruments and clocks. Well done once again Andy for reviving it!

Have a good day tomorrow – with the weather forecast I think it should be ‘ice-cold’ drinks all round; unlike the thermal blankets that may be needed on October 29th at Newark! 😀
