Shoreham Aerojumble – Sat 29 March 2014

OK, so I know that it is a long way into the future but some of you may want to diarise it well in advance!

Today I have had confirmation of the site availability for Saturday 29 March 2014 and I therefore thought this would be an opportunity to flag up the next date.

We have looked at the possibility of an alternative venue (and this is still under consideration) and although this remains a strong possibility for future years we are staying put at Shoreham for 2014.

I actually end up seeing more of the goods on sale through photographs posted here, like Ian’s, that I do on the day!!

How about some more?!

I’d love to but I’m still out of that megabites upload allocation thingy, took some good shots too 🙁

I believe the Lancaster section has gone to Redhill Wings, along with some of the other lumps.

That’s good news. There is a real chance that it will be conserved well and put on display in their museum. Is the serial known of this relic? I think I recall seeing a “W” or “N” in the number?

A thoroughly good day out, thanks for organising Andy. Despite getting up at five, still arrived at nine to a stream of happy people carrying trophies back to their cars. Early birds etc. A good chance to catch up with friends old and new. Came home with slightly more money than I arrived with. A result.

Yup! Cracking event – again – Andy. Thanks very much.

Got a few little gems meself: A superb Lufty HGU-33 bone dome complete with all stickers, stencils, wiring and a perfect visor – and very reasonably priced too. That’s destined for the mannequin who will be standing in full Luftwaffe F-4 Phantom flight gear alongside his ejection seat I got at last year’s Fest.

Also a batch of superb manuals and AP’s – again, all at a good price with a couple of original Viscount flight manuals thrown in too. Four original Bristol Aeroplane Company 1930’s engine manuals for Pegasus and Jupiter was a scoop for a ton.

Met up with a few of the regulars, stuffed my face with a sausage and bacon baguette and enjoyed the sunshine.

Was back in Brighton by late morning and looking forward to a stroll with the missus followed by a night out in town. The weather by this time was almost balmy and the journey back (via Arundel and Portsmouth) the following day, uneventful.

Looking forward to the next one already:)

Anon.

Graham Adlam was selling the sections – or at least telling me how much they were

Out of interest, Any one know the prices they were asking?

I don’t think the Ball Turret was Roel Van Buerdens, he sent me some pictures of it a few years ago and it from memory was more the opposite, no outer shell. Sadly I have lost the pics they were on my work computer, when I heard about it I did wonder if it was him.

Really love to hear that people have found things they have been looking for, and it is especially satisfying to hear that project-specific treasures have surfaced. Amazing that Hornet F-1 parts should turn up, and really glad you secured them.

It helps to make the whole thing worthwhile!

I would say that your event is ‘on the up’. Having been to the majority of them throughout the noughties, this was the first year I felt I wasn’t looking at the same parts again.

A few Hornet F1 specific parts were to be found, what else could I ask for! Good to meet and talk to many folk I consider friends now too.

Long may it continue,

All interesting comments, for which I thank you.

One would like to think the event is ‘on the up’ (Fly.Buy refers) but it is the case that the quality of the event, really, is wholly dependant on the quality of stallholder’s material more than anything else. And that is always variable. This time, there were a few quite astonishing treasures and that always makes the event.

I am certainly trying to keep it going, but it is an uphill struggle given the overheads. Have been looking at other possible venues and will be doing so again these next few months in order to try to find something more viable.

Three pairs of experimental boots, two Iraq/Afghanistan and a pair of Typhoon anti G bots plus an early Harrier Oxygen mask.

I’m happy

Certainly a good day out, the Shoreham aerojumble seems to be on the up compared to the direction it had been going some years ago. Thankyou to the organisers. Things of note which caught my eye. Typhoon and hurricane spade grips, Spitfire bubble canopies, Ju87 wheel spat, complete Avro Vulcan pilot side panels, Piston Provost instrument panel, Buccaneer cockpit instrument switch panels, DC3 tail wing, imperial airways passenger seat, clock from RN Swordfish, bulldog front, and much more etc…for me I came home with a BAC1-11 and Canberra B2 yoke and a few books. Well worth attending and catching up with others. I think the next aerojumble is possibly Popham in early May????

If that ball turret is the same one I have seen before, I think it is Roel van Beurden
From Zevenaar. That Lanc section was recently advertised on a dutch auction site.
Was it sold at Shoreham?
