Just an update for forum members.
We have decided not to run the usual end of March Shoreham aerojumble as, in its present format, the event there is no longer viable. It is likely we will be doing an aerojumble with Brooklands in the summer, of which more later.
Longer term, we are seeking a fixed location for what will probably be a once a year event. It will still be the Shoreham aerojumble…just in a different place! That said, we MAY still run the September event this year at Shoreham so watch this space on that one. It is not the end of aerojumbles, but we are having to re-evaluate and re-invent ourselves to make things viable.
Oh, what a two edged sword e-bay is!:( 😮 Andy Saunders

A cheaper stall price at Brooklands might encourage collectors of aircraft junk like myself to come along and sell some of my surplus collection. That may the market is rejuvenated with new sellers and new types of stock. Let me know the pitch prices when they become available. Many Thanks!
Will do FlyBuy! Hope to have some news here very very soon! Andy

Good news…!
Glad to hear you are going ahead with Whitwick, Dave! There will be a summer aerojumble instead of Shoreham (details follow) and we will run the usual end of September one, although probably not at Shoreham. Thereafter I will hope to get a “fixed” location for either March or September although no longer sure we will do two “Shoreham replacements” per year. Watch this space….;) Andy Saunders

In the meantime I am pleased to say that the Whitwick Aeromart will still be running this year & the projected (although as yet unconfirmed) date is Saturday April 21st.
That makes two bits of good news today. Well done Dave, looking forward to it already.
I also received my invite to the Popham Aero/autojumble on Monday, May 7th. Again, maybe stall holders and customers with Shoreham withdrawal will be tempted out of bed on this Bank Holiday for what is usually a splendid combined event – aerojumble, autojumble, classic vehicle rally, fly-in, daft clown on stilts, etc etc.

Whitwick Goes On…..
Sorry to hear that Shoreham is not going ahead. I’ve only missed one event in the last 15 years or so…… Fingers crossed that you can source another venue asap.
In the meantime I am pleased to say that the Whitwick Aeromart will still be running this year & the projected (although as yet unconfirmed) date is Saturday April 21st. We would of course be very pleased to see anyone suffering withdrawl symptoms from the lacking Shoreham – both dealers & buyers alike 😉 . Please email me for details….. You are quite right, FlyBuy, the overheads at Shoreham and declining visitors have killed it there. We cannot really raise either the stall or entrance fees and both have been “fixed” for quite a few years now. So, if we go elsewhere then I certainly intend to pass on our reduced overheads to the punters if I can. That said, there is a LOT of work in such an event and I need to make it worthwile to put it bluntly. I cannot afford to do it for fun or the love of it. However….its not dead yet. At Shoreham, yes, probably although we’ll review September. Watch this space! Andy Saunders

The decline of the aerojumble has had many reasons, ebay, availability of items etc etc…One thing a lot of stall holders have mentioned when deciding to attend was the price of getting a pitch at Shoreham. I obviously appreciate that the prices are due to the overheads at the relevant venue/site etc…just wondered if getting a pitch for the Brooklands aerojumble was going to be cheaper than the Shoreham venue or will it work out the same?

The Saturday market that operates there is the biggest in Europe. You would need to contact first the owner Epping Forest District Council and maybe something could be done in conjunction with the market operators. All the infrastructure is there including vast parking areas and loos, indoor hangar area etc. The council are keen to promote the iarfield for different uses but you would need to contact them quickly.
Its a brilliant venue for a big Aerojumble.
Mark V, I think using the live side IE Squadron area would be perfect and if it was on a Sunday you have the added delight of NO MARKET yessssssssss:D

6, anyone got anything to add?

There were occasional aerojumbles at North Weald in the early ’90s, hosted by The Squadron iirc.
They were pretty well attended, with the advantage of lots of flying as an additional draw.
Not too far from London and much easier for us Northerners, too.
Dammit. aerojumbles are a part of our rich aeronautical heritage – can’t we apply for Lottery funding?!

How about THE NORTH WEALD SHOREHAM AEROJUMBLE ?

2, It has a nice long runway 🙂
3, easy access M25, M11,
4, cant think of one
5, giving up now
6, anyone got anything to add?

Thats a great shame
Andy
Very sorry to here that, I cut me teeth on WWII aviation at your great event as i sure many other have. I have seen all the WWII stuff dwindle and rocket in price. I started dealing in parts because i simply could not afford to do what i wanted to do on my salary, Shoreham was and has remained a highlight on my calender and am very sorry to hear your news.
I think the internet has played a big part in the decline of aerojumbles and many small busineses in general, we cant have our cake and eat it i guess.
Good luck to you and I will be sure to attend any alternative venue.
Graham
