I’m going to have a chance to go to the Shoreham Airshow on 20 August. Does anyone have advice about a good position along the fenceline for photography (or just generally enjoying the flying)?
Looking forward to the WWII aircraft, but also to seeing the Hunter, Vampire and Vulcan in flight.

Taken from Shorehams twitter feed.
” During the airshow, there will be more noise from Brighton City (Shoreham) Airport than usual operating days throughout the flying display periods. These take place from 1030-1230 and 1300-1730 on each day of the show.
We are aware that the jet displays in particular can be of particular concern to those who keep horses and other livestock in the vincinity of Brighton City (Shoreham) Airport. Currently we expect the noisiest displays to be performed within the following periods:-
Saturday 22nd August
1.10pm – 2.10pm
2.30pm – 2.45pm
Sunday 23rd August
1.10pm – 2.10pm
3.45pm – 4.10pm
Please note that these are very approximate timings and are subject to change. There is more than one display within each period identified. We will be updating the social media throughout the weekend with some key timings. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep in touch.”

Does anyone know what time the Vulcan is appearing on both days? I can’t seem to find out specific times.
Thanks

Well that’s good news. I had my hopes dashed for Shuttleworth a few months back so I was hoping the same thing didn’t happen this time. I plan on getting there quite early to make sure, but I’m glad to know I’ll be able to get in most likely. Thanks for the info!

There are tickets on the gate, I don’t think they’ve ever sold out 🙂

Great show but I was waiting for the Sea Fury engine to go bang, seemed to be making several puffs of white smoke during its display.
Yes, I noticed that. Made a few audible pops as well. Kind of forgot about it as the pilot didn’t seem too concerned. Must be one of the foibles of that particular engine.
At least it’s not the smokey Joe it was before.

Re 3
What was the difference in performance between the Merlin engined 109s and the original ?
By: hampden98 - 2nd September 2013 at 12:45
The 109’s were portrayed by Hispano HA112-M1L Buchons. Spanish built ME109’s with a Rolls Royce Merlin instead of the DB609.
Was the 108 a genuine 108? It looked different to me. Possibly a Nord?
Unfortunately no Vulcan on the Sunday. How did Saturdays differ?

I second those remarks. My wife and I went on Sunday and thought it an excellent show – knocked Eastbourne into a cocked hat!
Can someone confirm that they were two genuine 109s and not ‘dressed up’ 108s? They sounded like the real deal. As for a formation of two Hurricanes and two Spitfires – Heaven arrived on Earth !
