Anytime Geoff. I was just lucky enough to be sent to the other side of the country for work. I am glad that we are all on here to talk about and preserving historic aircraft.

I was sent to Cairns for work and I managed to get a lift over to the Belfast and I managed to take some photos for you all. There is a bit of work being done on her time to time. Latest is that she will be flown to Singapore. However like all things in aviation I will believe it when I see it. Either way it would be great to see this old girl fly again.

A story I heard recently claimed that someone connected with the current owners were saying they had a UN contract to move military vehicles out of certain African nations, hence the engine runs and general clean-up. I understand there may be a few airport charges to clear first….and then a few regulatory matters.

Back in March, there were reports of engine runs from a local group. Nothing since.

(Geoff Goodall Aviation History site…..not anything to do with me)

Cairns Airport had a DC-3 on a pole – a decade or so past. It’s a bigger, more-travelled (traveller) airport, so a Belfast-on-pole is a natural upgrade.

Sorry but rotating on a pole only conjures up one image for me….

Painted or maybe replaced / reconditioned!?

I’m presuming as of yet that no comapany or individual has stuck their head above the parapet and declared their intentions for it? Not that the need to, just curious that’s all.

Just a quick update… The propellers have recently been painted and the spinners polished. Also, the mould and gunk on the top of the fuselage has been cleaned off
