Short Sherpa Wing

Does anybody know what happened to the Short Sherpa’s wing after the aircraft was presented to Skyfame in 1966?

Thanks Guys,
Its seems sad that the key part of the design exercise was the bit that seems to have been ditched. One wonders if there has been any consideration of the possibility of getting the building of a reproduction wing under way, once the fuselage is back in N.I. ?

Yes, the wing is long gone, sadly. No details I’m aware of, but whatever happened, happened before the Sherpa entered the IWM’s collection (who it still belongs to).

The Short SB.4 Sherpa (G-14-1) fuselage left Rochester on Wednesday 3rd May where it had been in storage for some time following restoration.

It was bound for the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton where it will be displayed next to the Sea Harrier.
She will be at Flixton for around a year and will then move on to Aldergrove in Northern Ireland where she was built for permanent display.

One interesting nugget, is that she has been reunited with her original Blackburn-Turbomeca Pallas Turbojets that were found when a museum in Ireland (forgotton which one  ) had a “sort out”

As to the Wing, no ideas sorry

Hope this helps

Thanks Dezz, It’s looking lot better than when I last saw it. I was told the wing had been “lost” around the time of the Skyfame collection’s break up and the move out of Staverton. As I recall the fuselage was on separate display then (c.1967) but I seem to remember the wing being nearby in the hangar.

I don’t know if MAPS have it at Rochester, or if they know of its whereabouts’, they have a fuselage, and a fantastic restoration job they have done on it to.
Piccie taken 19-06-05.
Dezz 🙂
