Perhaps silly question but does anyone know if moving to the Philipino registration means this and the other Heavylift aircraft will operate from the Philippines? Is so I’d better plan a trip, it’s only an hour south of here!!! ๐
And BTW, what is the latest on the Guppy, has it left yet?

The Philippines registered Belfast pictured is ex 9L-LDQ/G-HLFT not G-BEPS which is still at Southend. I had a flight on G-HLFT in April 2000 when still flying for Heavylift UK. One of my best flights ever.

Apparently suffered some damage too the tail door area during the recent high winds, ((pprune)) not heard anymore details though.

I was thinking that also HP. PS was certainly at SEN yesterday!
I guess as the CL-44-O is now also registered to them on a simular registration, that that will be on its way from Bournmouth soon, unless its already gone.

I think you’ll find that that is the original Heavylift Asia Belfast not G-BEPS. They seem to have moved there administrative base to the Philippines & are in the process of re registering the aircraft there.
I have not heard of the SEN Belfast leaving yet.

Gentlemen,
Why this Belfast was PHL-registered and what’s her original UK CAA registration? ( I believe it’s G-BEPS … )
Taken @ New Guinea, wearing HeavyLift scheme… maybe the 1st and only image until now? ๐

the white one was XR363 (civil reg G-OHCA) and the Heavylift one was XR367 (G-BFYU). They were finally cut up around 2001.

Southend Victoria line Belfasts
The only time I think I’ve actually seen a Belfast fly was when the one at Cosford landed there in 1978, I was aged 5. Neal
Last time I saw one flying was a Heavylift example over Suffolk in the early ’90’s whilst freezing my nuts off outside the fence at Wattisham.
Without ‘Googling’, does any knowlegable chap (or Lass) know the serials of the two ‘scrapper’ Belfasts at Southend, that were put out to grass, beside the railway line (between Rochford & Prittlewell) during the ‘Seventies ???
I know they lingered for around a decade, but can’t remember when they were first dumped there – or when they were finally cut up ?

Beautiful machine, I remember watching them from my bedroom window many years ago when they were being flown out of Shorts facility at Sydenham (now Belfast City Airport), my house was just under the circuit and I had a grandstand view of some wonderful aircraft, the location was also home of โRoyal Naval Aircraft Yard Sydenhamโ.
Incidentally some years ago I was allowed access to the interior of Cosfords machine, afterwards I could understand one reason for the decline of the British aviation industry, compared to Hercules transports I have flown in she seemed over engineered. (Either that or โFat Albertโ is under engineered)

They have been again working on her this week 30th Sept 06.
She now has a prop on one of the engines,
but she,s still missing the 4th engine.

I used to see them flying out of Stansted with HLA in the early 80’s. Nice aeroplane.

Yes. It came back to Prestwick for maintenance recently then returned to work. A second is being prepared in the UK for return to airworthiness for the same operator.
I see on here and heard that it is going to be the one at Southend? Wish they where flying over here a great british machine. ๐

The only time I think I’ve actually seen a Belfast fly was when the one at Cosford landed there in 1978, I was aged 5.
It flew right over our house while in the circuit to land and looked huge compared to the Bulddogs that we would normally see, wish I had some photos.
