Hello
Just a quick question – are there any Short Skyvans preserved in the UK?

Having done air-to-air photography from the “Invicta” example, I can confirm a Skyvan provides a good platform for unusual angles, but I was glad to have ear plugs in as it generates a very uncomfortable level of noise!

Don’t forget this one in Notts! 😉
St John the Baptist Primary School on Vale Road,Colwick, Nottingham – the aircraft is located on a piece of land that was acquired for use as a wildlife area for the school; the Short 360 G-SSWO (c/n: SH3609) is being utilised by the school as classroom and as changing rooms. Planning permission was obtained last year (2010) from Gedling District Council. G-SSWO is already in use and has been fitted out with folding tables and chairs. 🙂
I believe that Texan Tomcat may know more! 🙂
Sure do – that was down to my mate Chris – ex Millom – via Retro Aviation. Top job he made of it too!
There is another 360 at Stafford doing the same thing…

Also, wasn’t there a thread recently with an air to air photo shoot with XH558 that involved a Skyvan?

That was one of the Invicta Skyvans, used by these chaps:

I’ve certainly seen one flying around in the last twelve months in the Oxfordshire area when I’ve been driving on the M40.

Edit…Oh yes! Here we go… http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=115584&highlight=skyvan
Ungainly looking thing, but not without a certain charm! 😀

Pocklington gliding club have the fuselage of one of the Shorts 330/360 family that (I believe) they trundle around the airfield as some sort of mobile clubhouse type thingy. I had a sneaky peek through the side window when parked up near there one evening, the cockpit looks in remarkably good order.

Wouldn’t one of those make the ultimate garden shed or man cave?

Pretty sure that I saw one para’ dropping over Weston on the Green a few weeks ago (I was driving on the M40 so staring long and hard at it would have been unwise!).
Ah, that is the above mentioned G-PIGY.

Isn’t G-PIGY still airworthy?

Just another quickie – what happened to the Invicta Airlines G-BEOL? Is it still around somewhere…?

Thanks gents. Didn’t think there was, but thought I’d double-check.
There is indeed a 330 at NEAM, a 330 at the Ulster Aviation Society, and is the 360 (G-SSWE) still at the school in Stoke…?
Thanks

I think the closest thing would be the Shorts 330 at NEAM, and possibly another in Belfast?

Nope!
