38 Soldiers sacked by Email. some 50 trainee pilots being axed from RAF Cranwell, Over 1000 jobs lost (Today) at a car windscreen Company, and we send India 1 Billion £s in aid. India is the second quickest growing Country in the world, and also the largest buyers of gold.
Should we be sending money like this to other Countries, or saving it and putting it back into our own economy?.

Don’t see the connection between a democratic constitutional monarchy and a dictatorship. So the despot has gone the military are making promises but the people are still restless. The vacuum is still dangerous and they are a very long way from getting what they want.

S.H. I do not know the answer to your last quetion posted re GDP etc. however, if we have to give aid to other Countries, I beleive we should only do so,, when a Country has had a major disaster, earthquake, floods etc.Other than that, we have to make OUR ends meet, and cut our cloth accordingly, etc, but yes, Ring Fencing was a bad idea.

One of the worst decisions made by this government was to “ring-fence” foreign aid. It is an outrage when we give millions we do not have to countries with great and growing wealth. Yes, they have millions of poor and destitute people but they should be using their own resources first and fourmost. Anyone know the percentage of its GDP that India spends on defence….??

I for one certainly don,t like to see anyone lose their employment. I stand to be corrected, but do we realy need 82.000 in Whitehall?. I dont seem to see too many, even any swathing cuts at any of those earning huge sums of money, in any Government department.

Me neither, Anna. It’s like we want to be seen as a nice, altruistic country but without really looking at ourselves first (which I know is what altruism is so I kind of contradict myself there but hopefully you know what I mean!) I don’t get it. :confused:
