After 3 weeks of lovely Spring weather, it stands to reason that the only rain for weeks would come at the start of the British Airshow season.
However after an early morning scan of the Met reports, it was decided that all was not lot and the weather would clear an hour into the show, the decision was made to “put the clocks back an hour so for one day only Old Warden had double summer time (in spirit if not in temperature)
This didnt stop the band playing the Blues
After the rain had stopped, it was all hands to the aircraft as they were moved out of he hangars to the flightline

Large aircraft + damp ground, hmm maybe pushing the Lysander uphill wasnt the best plan.

Eventually all the aircraft were out

Just in time for some old friends to return to the vehicle parade

The Flying display began rather appropriately with the Catalina from Plane Sailing

Followed by Jim Schofield flying his first Shuttleworth display
Starting the Glad involves some lucky soul getting the best seat in the house!
(although its a bit loud when it backfires apparently)
And despite the wind, some people really enjoyed the propwash!
Peter Teichman flew the Hurribomber from North Weald, another polished display making full use of the Old Warden bend

This was followed by the Twister duo battling the wind

I have to say my favourite display item as the Tutor and Tomtit formation, mainly because it has the benefit of the best light

Lovely photos of classic aircraft,
I’m always a bit sad when I see an empty seat in a classic aircraft with all the enthusiasts looking up who would love a flight (I’m one of them)……… not much chance of a joyride here in Norway though (or a decent airshow for that matter):(
cheers,

Its a bit like a Swan really. Looks slick on the surface but is chaos underneath :diablo:

Excellent pictures as usual. One moment there were no aircraft on the flightline then its like they appeared from nowhere. Very slick.
Cheers

The Swift Team glider was as impressive as ever
The main flying part was closed by the Lysander

Finally, all the aircraft had to be put back again. Someone has the right idea!
Finally, the Collections Super Cub G-SVAS introduced a new act. Something you may have seen if you live locally in the days leading up to the show. Banner towing!

All in all an excellent days flying, shame about the freezing wind.
The Banner says it all
See you there.
