Shuttleworth Polikarpov?

Just seen the contents for the new issue of Flypast on the Website. It mentions in the news headlines about a ‘Polikarpov for Shuttleworth.’

Does anyone know anymore details about whether it’s an I16 or an I153?

I believe that Chief Pilot Andy Sephton may be out of the country at the moment. Putting two and two together, could this mean he’s been inspecting the Polikarpov…?

‘Radial engined biplane’ might just fit in seeing as one of their collecting aims is the first 100 years of flight!
The collection charges a hangarage fee for aircraft on loan there i.e the Magister and until recently the Belgian Fury.

It could be, of course. Aircraft like the Magister (I believe) are .

But a collection accepting a loan aircraft are taking on a fair burden in terms of housing costs and space utilisation.

And such an aircraft seems so ill-matched to the collection’s theme.

Time will tell I suppose.

Is this something Andy is buying for himself or will it become part of the Shuttleworth Collection itself? It seems odd because I’ve always been told that the Collection only operates British aircraft.
Can anyone elaborate??

A very unusual aircraft for Shuttleworth, which is primarily a British aircraft collection.

Would this be on behalf of somebody else?

I would try a Polikarpov PO-2 (ex G-BSSY) coming from N.Z.
