Did anyone else go to the Shuttleworth Proms yesterday? I was lucky enough to be on a visit to England the last few days and got a reminder about this event, with which I was not familiar. It was great. A mix of hearty patriotic (at least partly) music and a great couple of hours of flying (Kirby Kite, Tutor, Martlett, Chilton, Comper Swift, Provost, Lysander, Pup, Hind, Boxkite, Avro Triplane … , as well as a Rapide and Chipmunk from Baginton). The Rapide went U/S but they managed to get it flying again in time to get to Sywell for today. Amazing feeling walking round the hangars at night with no-one else around.
And the cheerful, Glyndebourne-like picnics going on. What a surprise for me.
Fantastic weather, dry, sunny and windless. Lovely firework finale.
Did I miss any of you there? Anyone involved who reads this: congratulations.
