I think this is sufficiently large new that it deserves its own thread, although I’m sure Bmused will also update the ongoing table of orders..
FI2006: SIA to take 20 A350s, nine more A380s
David Kaminski-Morrow, Farnborough (21Jul06, 10:54 GMT, 112 words)Singapore Airlines has signed a letter of intent to purchase 20 Airbus A350 XWBs and a further nine A380 aircraft.
The carrierβs agreement, revealed at the Farnborough air show, also includes options on another 20 A350s and six more A380s.
Deliveries of the A350s β which will be the -900 version β will begin in 2012 and run to 2014. The additional A380s will be delivered from late 2008 and run to 2010.
No engine selection has been given for either type. The value of the agreement for the 29 firm aircraft is put at $7.5 billion.
SIA revealed last month that it would acquire 20 Boeing 787-9s and placed options on another 20.

Ahh the first order for the A380 all year.

One would imagine that they would choose Rolls Royce power for the addintional A380’s, as that is what the first batch have…Unless the engine turns out to be a complete dog in service?

Nice order…it’s got to be a big sigh of relief for Airbus.
Yeah lol!!! Reports on a.net a few weeks back gave the impression that they would order no more airbus A380 so i bet Airbus are OVER THE MOON!

I’d love to know the lease rates Sing will be paying on the A330s – I bet they’re rock bottom loss-leaders for the A350-900XWBs which won’t be ready until 2012. Hopefully they’ll go for Rollers for power too!

Wow, when talking to the Airbus guys the other day they were very downbeat about expecting any more orders so late in the show!
Well they must have known something cos a deal like that isn’t thrashed out in 3 days. They’ve done well overall at announcing at the show (Airbus tend to use shows more to announce than Boeing is what I’ve noticed), but still won’t put them anywhere near the Boeing totals for the year to date.

As of now:
When is the first option of A380?
When is the first A380 for sale?
I understand that the production of this year is 1 frame (MSN003); the production of 2007 is 9 frames (6 of them to Singapore, the remaining 3 go to Qantas and Emirates)… what is the 2008 production, and to whom?

You missed the fact that they are also taking 19 A330-300s on lease for delivery 2009 through 2010.

You’re right, I did miss that, but that news story only appeared after I’d posted the initial news and I hadn’t logged back in.
