Gone are the days of flight lists?
It will only let me have 50 characters in my signature 🙁

I’ve opted not to view them through the User CP. You can view more per page and it saves some upset through ignorance. If only every forum was this fully-featured, you’re lucky Key spends the money on the software and Webby to run it 🙂

Why so proud about sitting on an aerial bus?
There are people who get all hot over omni-buses, so why not aero-buses ????
Personally I agree with you, I find air travel a bind and nothing to get moist about. Aero-buses are like a day out in Norfolk, everyone looks the same.

I’ve never flown in an airliner 😀 😀 😀 Mark 😀

Why not just ahve a thread about what flights you’ve been on? Christ, i’ve flown all over the world with many airlines on many occasions and couldn’t tell you a thing about any of them. Why so proud about sitting on an aerial bus?

Instead of moaning about only being able to use 50 characters so not being able to put in web links why not use tinyurl.com to make your urls smaller.

This place and the moderation (with one exception) just gets better and better.
Gone are all the inane GD drivel threads, and now the ultra long meaningless signatures.
Long may it reign.
Bravo and a collective pat on the back.

Moderator Comment
Anyone who wishes to comment or complain about the standard of moderation on this or any other Key Publishing forum is more than welcome to do so directly to the Webmaster, either by PM or by e-mail.
Do not complain about moderation, or about individual moderators, on open forums.
Any such postings will be considered off-topic and will be treated accordingly.
The Webmaster has personally imposed the 50 character limit because of persistent abuse of the signature facility.
Such decisions are his prerogative and he is not obliged to enter into prior discussion or agreement of any kind.
Chaps, the bottom line is that these forums aren’t a democracy – and neither is almost every other discussion board on the Internet. 🙂

I agree with all comments made on the 50 characters front and even more so with PMN’s observation on the mods of this forum…
I just smile and knod… smile and knod… 🙂
Maybe you should put your squeaky clean & perfect personality up for moderator? 🙂 seriously though, if you have an issue with a moderator or the 50 character sig issue then you know the score, take it up with the webmaster 🙂

Whatever happened to good old fashioned consultation with the members?
By: PMN - 24th September 2006 at 14:48
Yes, those days are gone…
Putting a page long signature advertising flights you are going to be on is annoying to anyone trying to read a thread, and also quite useless.
If you want to keep track of your flights, use an agenda.
The name signature tells it: it is the place to put a signature, in other words: your name, so you don’t have to type it every time.
Why is it these days certain moderators of this forum seem to speak with such an impressive tone of arrogance?
I agree on the flight list thing (even though I had one).
50 characters, however, is totally and utterly useless for anything. I can’t even put links to my JP.Net and A.Net shots on there because the characters in the hyperlink take it over 50. I can send more than three times this number of characters in a text message, and that still isn’t exactly a lot.
Why not just remove the facility completely if it’s going to be made so spectactularly pointless?
50 is indeed not a lot if you want to include the url of a website or two.
My current signature, even without the TUI rant, would not be allowed even though it is not that big. If I want to remove the TUI rant, I can not do so without removing one or both of the links which truth be told I’d rather not do.
Exactly Peter. The 4 flights in my signature will probably remain there for some time!

Thats the reason the number of characters have been restricted I imagine…

EK.’s sig is particularly annoying.

There is a way to turn off signatures in the User CP though, if they bothered people that much.

I suppose this is a fairly good idea. Flight lists are a bit pointless, on reflection! However, 50 characters is pathetic.
