SINGAPORE (AP) — SilkAir, Singapore Airlines’ regional Asian carrier, said Friday it has ordered six more Airbus aircraft valued at $328 million as part of its growth strategy.

The planes will boost the regional carrier’s fleet to 15 planes from nine.

On order for SilkAir are four Airbus A320-200 aircraft and two Airbus A319-100 aircraft, which will be delivered over the next five years, said a statement from the carrier.

SilkAir currently has five A320-200s and four A319-100s.

“The flight range capability of these aircraft is line with SilkAir’s sphere of operation and product portfolio,” the statement said.

In recent months, SilkAir’s network of destinations has expanded to Kochi in India, Chittagong, Bangladesh, Macau, Krabi, Thailand and Chengdu, China.

Also in the pipeline is a new service to Hyderabad, India, and charter services to Jaipur, India, the statement said.
