Silver Jubilee air show at White Waltham 1977

I hadn’t seen this one before. My main interest is the bit starting at 2:44 minutes but the whole clip is certainly worth watching!

g-ALWC was in a scheme that was maybe derived from its RAF colours.

Nice to see Brian Lecomber enlightening HRH in the ways of the replica Sopwith Camel .

Thanks farnboroughrob & Propstrike. Does anyone know what happened to G-ALWC after it was de-registered?

I was at the show aged 7, but sadly have no recollection of it what so ever! The Dak would have been one of the Fairey Surveys aircraft, possibly G-ALWC. Nice to see some views of the old ATA/Fairey hangars on the north side, these historic buildings should have been saved.

I was at this show with my Dad and Brother, arrived early to find the Mossie just being pushed out of the old T2 hanger on the field. Watched George Aird start her up and taxy to the flight line, so close I could have touched her. Shame the film clip doesn’t show him looping RR299 in the show, only time I ever saw the Mossie perform aero’s when he flew it. The VC10 display was the best display ever of the big 10, my brother later went flying with the BA Training Captain who flew it on the day and on asking apparently said he couldn’t have lowered the gear even if he wanted! We will never see the like of it again!

….Is that Sally B in Ginger Rodgers colours?

‘Ginger Rodgers’ had a red fin stripe. Also, ‘Sally B’ is seen in the video without turrets.

At 1 min 56 sec, the Dakota on the ground looks like it is in the colours of the “Airline” TV series which was filmed about 1981/82. I know the scheme was similar to RAF Transport Command colours, but not identical, and to me, it looks more like the “Airline” scheme.

Any thoughts on which Dak this was?

Certainly throwing the VC10 around and a good contender for the `how low can you go` thread.
