Simon was my friend and my contact at North Weald. He was always eager to help out with anything, and took great interest in the Norwegian history of NW. He called me a few weeks ago to make arrangements for a book signing event in June that I would attend with a fellow author. He always seemed to look at me and our friendship with pride – he was excited to know me just as I was excited to know him, so happy to have such a great connection to the museum. Together, I thought, we could bring this Anglo-Norwegian cooperation forward for the next 40 years or so, perhaps even coming up with new and exciting events and ideas for the museum. A brand new generation of enthusiasts, barely 30 years old the both of us with so many years ahead – being involved with what we love the most.
Heres to you Simon, do say hello to all our heroes up there in the blue skies.

A tragic loss for the families. Peter was also quite well known in historic aviation circles and was Secretary of the North Weald Airfield Museum and was grandson of Peter Chamberlain, the WW2 bomb and mine specialist. Simon also worked on a casual/part time basis for ‘After The Battle’ publications.
Simon was only in contact with me very recently. Shocking news.

One occupant identified as Simon Chamberlain. Apparently the passenger was offered a free flight as he was near by.
Any chance of a more precise thread title?

This thread needs a new title as it will never be found in any search in future. R.I.P.
