Singapore spends $5 million in Perth

SINGAPORE Airlines has unveiled a $5 million expansion of its pilot training operations in Perth.
A new hangar, engineering and maintenance services and accommodation block have been added to the Singapore Flying College at Jandakot Airport, in Perth’s south.
The expansion has more than doubled the size of the original facility, which is owned and operated by Singapore Airlines.
The original facility, which opened in 1990, has now become one of the largest airline-based pilot training facilities in the South Pacific.
Cadet pilot capacity will rise from 80 to 180, providing more opportunities for young pilots and bringing significant benefits to Western Australia, as the pilot cadets complete nine months of training in the state.
“Our roots here and deep commitment to the Australian market place us well to be part of Australia’s growth in future years,” Singapore Flying College chairman Bey Soo Khiang said.
