Contrary to the sense here I judge his legacy to be his major part in the transformation of satirical comedy in the early 60s and the list of performers whose careers he established, rather than a handful of heavyweight interviews which had latterly become rather flabby.

It’s sad news to hear of his passing. Not many people around like that nowadays.
Most interviewers seem scared to ask the big and awkward questions nowadays.
