Well I’ve been called many things, Bravo but not that!;) Why should I bleat? You are as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.

Power I am with you. The man was golden. We will hear no doubt in the near future more of his generosity. With regard to Charlies posts it would appear as we say in the black “He is a nit picking tripe hound” That’s why he is up near 9000 posts. And no Charlie there will be no reply from me to any bleating from you about my post.

Sounds like a fantastic person and I think the most appropriate thing for me to do is knock the top off a beer in his memory.

“A rich person who ACTUALLY did something……..” Implies that the rest did/do not. So a bit of rephrasing would not have gone amiss.

Anyway we are least agreed on Sir Jack’s considerable generosity.

I am more than aware of that, John, but was commenting on Trumper’s implication that Sir Jack was a lone philanthropist amongst the rich.

I never said he was a lone philanthropist :p i said he was a rich person who did something good with his money unlike alot of others who are also rich but don’t seem to do any good with it [unless it gets them some publicity or a tax refund 🙂

He was also ‘Union’ Jack Hayward. As well as giving half a mil to the Vulcan, and saving his beloved Wolves when they were in the 4th Division in a ramshackle stadium, building them a new one with £30m of his own money, and then selling the club for a ten pound note, he also paid for the SS Great Britain to be saved, rebuilt a hospital after the Falklands War, and bought Lundy Island and gave it to the National Trust. There are few men like Sir Jack, and the World is now a poorer place without him.

Sir Jack was Sir Wolverhampton. Loved by everyone who knew him for his love of the town (City). Wolves was his team in reality always was always will be.

He was also an RAF veteran. He saw service as a Glider pilot in Burma.
