Sirocco Aerospace signed a firm order with Tupolev, Aviastar and the Russian Aero Space Agency for 25 Tu-204s with RB211-535E4 engines and Honeywell avionics suites for delivery in 2003-05. The first five aircraft will go to China, where two airlines ordered three and two examples and optioned 10. No announcement has been made about the others, although Sirocco has been talking to airlines in the Middle East and Asia and to cargo consolidators. The order is valued at $366 million plus engines and avionics. The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development is close to a decision on lending Sirocco $50 million to complete the five aircraft for China. Earlier this year, Sirocco secured a 25% holding less one share in both Tupolev and Aviastar in exchange for an investment of $280 million

Crossing over with another thread here but the 535E4 shows that this is the E model RB211.
Well done Tupolev, a few more and they will overtake Boeing!!!

The best of luck to them. I’m surprised Aeroflot didn’t buy many.

Definitely excellent news, I really do see an encouraging future for this aircraft. I think it is destined to be a cargo aircraft more in Asia and Western Europe rather than passenger, but still very promising.
