Sit down and cross your legs

Qantas has instructed its pilots and flight crew to use fasten seatbelt signs if necessary to help break up queuing for toilets aboard long-haul flights to the United States.
A notice issued to cabin crew warns them to take seriously the controversial US directive to stop passengers from congregating around toilets during the 14-hour flight across the Pacific. “

Isn’t Qantas the only airline with a window in their toilet? Which is great of course, and good for people with claustrophobia!

I wonder whether the window in the toilet is a frosted one – just incase anybody looks in!

I flew back from CVG on New Year’s Eve and this the captain announced that no congregating near the toilets would be tolerated as part of the heightened security status at that time (since dropped).

I must point out that I don’t make a habit of hanging around toilets anyway. 🙂

It’s purely another Safety issue.

Hijackers are known to congregate before “storming” the plane so to speak. It has been witnessed many times.

no I’m not saying all of them do, or that any groups of people congreating are potential Hijackers. But safety first. Better Safe than sorry.

The Pacific ocean is famous for the severe turbulences that you can experience there. I suspect that turning the seat belt sign on is a way to prevent severe accidents.

I frequently sit in the overwing exit row, which is also next to the lav, so I always have people congregating in front of me queing to go to the toilet. I don’t see the big deal, as long as the seatbelt sign is off. I think it’s ridiculous to turn the sign on, just to make the line disperse.
