Ski Hoilday

I am trying to book a ski trip but can’t make my mind up on location, part of me says Europe and the other says States? Help where would you recommend (must be fast no slush) 😉 Anna:D 😀

I don’t ski though, I snowboard 😀

Don’t get me wrong , I don’t critisize people who like to ski. I just don’t enjoy down hill skiing.
I kinda like cross country skiing though 🙂

Err, well not neccessarily…….
I had an enjoyable skiing hol in the Dolomites and enjoyed the spectacle of skiing while looking down on the tops of Italian Air Force F104’s as they raced through the valleys below…..:D 😀

The same mountains that were on fire a couple of weeks ago are currently getting a dump of snow right now in Southern California. The ski resorts in those areas are up and running at the earliest calendar date in memory.

Living in Los Angeles we get the best of all worlds: Warm winters with lots of sunshine and pretty good skiing within 100 miles. OK, our resorts will not make anyone forget classic European destinations. But you can go surfing in the morning and skiing in the afternoon.

Having suffered the indignity of going hiking when on a skiing holiday I guess you should make sure there is some snow…? _ Nermal

Doh! Sorry, Typo. Should have read La Tania. (That’s what happens when someone else books and organises it, I don’t even know where the hell I’m going… )

I’ve only ever skied in Europe, so can’t comment on the US resorts although I hear there are some very good ones.

In France, Les Arcs has a nice mixture of steep blacks and long fast reds. The sky had just dumped half a metre on the slopes when we pitched up, so it was fabulous fluffy stuff for the first day or two, then compacted nicely and got VERY quick. 😀

Les Arcs also has three resorts all of which are interlinked, and you can also ski off to other resorts if you choose. We spent a week there last January and only explored a fraction of it. Off to La Tagne this time, anyone got any experience of that one?

Because of the €/$ ratio, I guess Colorado is more interesting for you Brits now.(The British £ is more or less following the US $) And the fares to the US are very attractive now 🙂
