Skyraider at Duxford!

Just noticed a navy blue Skyraider being worked on on Duxfords ramp, with US Marines markings and sporting two large silver drop tanks. Any ideas about owner/identity?

Rumour has it that this was not the best prepared aircraft and driver for the flight across the pond.

That seems a strange thing to put on a publically open forum?!

I would like to see one of the side by side configured Skyraiders in the Uk. They look like awesome machines especially carrying a full load under the wings.

[QUOTE=Moggy C;1286058]Rumour has it that this was not the best prepared aircraft and driver for the flight across the pond.

I can assure you that the pilot has well over 20,000 hours of which many are involved in ferry flights, his decision to spend a day or two at duxford was to rectify a couple of problems prior to uk departure.
he only departed when he was happy with the aircraft.

That will be this Skyraider then. Picked the right day to go to Duxford.

Staying another night as it went rather sick today. Moved to ARC so that the magic fairies can sprinkle some sparkle dust on it overnight in their secret hideaway…then it’s off to Wick and it can drip oil in a country where it’s cheap to fill it up again and no-one cares!

There was a French-owned example that fits this description advertised on the Courtesy Aircraft Sales site a while ago. Perhaps it’s being prepped for a new owner stateside? A French owned Corsair went through the same process at Dx a few months ago.
