A330’s are not making a loss. The reason for the 767 talk is because TCX wants more 330’s but they can’t get their hands on any soon enough. If the 767’s come (probably not from Condor) then it may make sense to go away from the A330 due to both their leases needing renewal. There is no talk of any fleet swaps between UK and Germany, not even the 753’s. Germany has mentioned ditching their 753’s in a year or so which is most likely to result in a massive order from one manufacturer to equip all the Thomas Cook fleets of all the Thomas Cook Airlines. From the signs I have seen it looks like we are moving away from shorter charter work so the requirement will be for aircraft with the ability to go the distance. The low costs have got Spain sewn up. The charter market will head towards the Canaries (until the low costs take over Tenerife and Gran Canaria), Greek Islands, Turkey and long haul.

It says on jethros that the 753s are going as part of a swap as well… www.jethros.i12.com

It is most likely G-JMAA and G-JMAB are headed for Condor meaning 752s or 320s are coming here.

Hi,
Condor are keeping their 753s and have/are retiring all 752s from service. Even before TCX flew there where indications from jmc that they where unhappy with their A330s and where thinking of disposing of them. It is also very likely that TCX will do an equipment swap with Condor. Doubt it would be 753s for 763s though (maybe 753s for A320s or 752s?). If TCX are looking into acquiring 767s they will probably want them as new as possible – so not from Condor as theirs date from between 1991 and 1995 of the production line?

Thanks

Thomas Cook

I also heard that the German arm are to retire the 757-300’s. And the UK’s A330’s are apparently operating at a loss too

Havent their been rumours about the German arm retiring the 753s they have already got? Also the 763 seems an odd replacement for the 753 as its a fair bit bigger. I thought it might be to replace the A330?

LBA, the 763s will only be coming here if the 753s go to Germany which looks likely.

To be honest i think the .com has been applied just to one side, as it doesn’t mean the whole titles need to be replaced.

If they were added to the starboard side as well, the Thomas Cook titles would need to be removed, and repainted further down the fuselage to make room for .com

Over time I expect this will happen, but just adding it to the port side is quicker and easier i guess

Got to agree I dont like the .com on the livery. Hope it wont be added to all a/c. Seems strange they would only apply it to one side.
Wys that will get tongues wagging…. Been a rumour for a while now but to hear it from a pilot..well makes it seem a bit more likely. Would they be getting the 767s from the German arm?

Well it looks like the Sydney route won’t now start until October so they havn’t needed to be too hasty about giving us start dates. They are however recruiting again later this month so hopefully that means I may get the news I want fairly soon. Rumour has it that there are now going to be a few 747-400 courses in addition to all the Airbus courses and usually they tend to keep former Boeing pilots on Boeings and Bus drivers on the Bus. I don’t really care what it is, I just want the terms and conditions.

Anyway, changing tack completely, can I highly unofficially say just a few words to get the tongues wagging.

Thomas Cook UK ………… and ………… 767

Explain that comment. I’m sure the designer of that livery would be interested to know

Well recently i saw on a 757 that the www.thomascook.com titles at the rear were about twice as big- have they removed them now that they have .com titles?

Not that I’ve been aware of. I might have to start paying a bit more attention now.
