Hello guys and gals 🙂
As most of you know, my real name is Rebecca (although I’m usually known as Becka ;)) A couple of years ago I did a general search on the ‘net to see if anyone has ever written a song called “Rebecca”, and found that the Bee Gees did. However…I cannot find the song on any of the Bee Gees albums (the ones available in this country at least) and wonder if it’s a song they wrote, but recorded by someone else?
Do any of you have any clue who might have recorded this song, and when, if it wasn’t the Bee Gees? Or if it was the Bee Gees, which album?
Like the topic title says, unusual request, but it’s worth trying!
Many thanks in advance
Becka
P.S. Yes, I know, the Bee Gees…how sad…yadda yadda 😀

You’ll get fed up with it by the end of next week and change your name to something without any signature songs at all…;) Esmeralda anyone?

Anyone else got a song with their name in it ?
Only one I ever heard that spelt my name correctly was a line from “Deadbeat Club” by the B-52’s.
“Going down to Allen’s for a 25 cent beer
and the jukebox playing “Ninety-six Tears”
We’re wild girls walkin’ down the street
Wild girls and boys going out for a big time”
All very apt except the price of the beer has gone up since that song was released in 1989. 😉

If you go into any HMV or other record shops and ask them to do a search, they will get out a thick book and then look down the title list. The list will tell you if the track is available on single or has been put on an album
‘Tis on computer at my local HMV, and Virgin Megastore too.

JOHNNY CHESTER
Album: THE COUNTRY MUSIC ALBUM
When I was young and foolish, my mama said to me
One day, son, an angel will come your way
Not from up above, but she’ll show you how to love
In a way that you will think is heavenly-y-y-y
And though it may seem absurd, everyone of my mama’s words
Came true the day my darlin’ came to me
Oh Rebecca you taught me how to live
You had some lovin’ you had to give
And I’m so glad you gave it all to me-ee-ee-ee
‘Cause I love you so, Rebecca
My-y heart’s aglow, Rebecca
And so you know, Rebecca
I’ll tell you each and every day
Right by your side, Rebecca
My-y love won’t hide, Rebecca
Or be kept inside, Rebecca
I want the world to see
Now I look into your eyes, once again I’m hypnotised
I can hardly hear the words the preacher’s sayin’
Then I hear you say I do, as I pledge my love to you
Oh I know you are the answer to all my pray-ayin’
In your gown of satin lace, as the veil falls from your face
The kiss we share shows how our life will be
Oh Rebecca, you taught me how to live
You had some lovin’ you had to give
And I’m so glad you gave it all to me-ee-ee-ee
‘Cause I love you so, Rebecca
My-y heart’s aglow, Rebecca
And so you know, Rebecca
I’ll tell you each and every day
Right by your side, Rebecca
My-y love won’t hide, Rebecca
Or be kept inside, Rebecca
I want the world to see
Oh I love you so, Rebecca
My-y heart’s aglow, Rebecca
And so you know, Rebecca
I’ll tell you each and every day
Right by your side, Rebecca
My-y love won’t hide, Rebecca
Or be kept inside, Rebecca
I want the world to see

Another Rebecca song (http://www.tictoctunes.com/catalogue/rebeccas_song.htm)
Rebecca’s Song
J.M. Kinkade III ©1983-2002
Ain’t nothing set in stone baby
I love you the way that I do
Nothings set in stone baby
Love you the way that I do
What ever you want
I’ll be there you
You got something baby
I can’t stand to see you go
You got something baby
Just can’t stand to see you go
God knows I love you
Don’t leave me all alone
Down home in Texas baby
That’s a real fine place to go
Down in Austin Texas
That’s a real fine place to go
That’s where Stevie
He come from
You know I’m guna miss you baby
Until you come home
You know I’m going to miss you baby
Until you come home
My love for you is as deep
As the day is long
Woah now Rebecca
I want you to know this is your song
Woah now Rebecca
I want you to know this is your song
I’ll keep on loving you
Even from afar
The planets travel around the sun baby
Don’t you know that’s true
Planets travel around the sun
Don’t you know that’s true
Just like my love for you
They keep me warm

Oops…forgot to post the lyrics…
In my mind , talk about Rebecca , suddenly so fine
In my mind , visions of Rebecca , suddenly she’s mine
All night , seems she put a spell on me , oh yeah
All night , gonna be the death of me
I’ll go out and get her
Rebecca , you’re dreamin’ out loud
Rebecca , you got your head in the clouds
You’re savin’ yourself for someone , Rebecca
Hangin’ on tight , waiting for Rebecca , dancin’ in the dark
Satin and lace , she’s so fine and mellow
Creature from the stars
So wrong , runnin’ with Rebecca now , oh yeah
So wrong , gonna be the death of me
I’ll go out and get her
Rebecca , you’re dreamin’ out loud
Rebecca , you got your head in the clouds , alright
You’re savin’ yourself for someone , Rebecca
Rebecca , you’re runnin’ away
Rebecca , you can’t face the day , alright
Cos you only live for the night
Rebecca , you’re always runnin’ around
(break)
Ooh , talk about Rebecca’s eyes
Ev’rything you fantasize
Well, she drag you down to earth
She’s the devil in disguise
Break you down to size
Rebecca , you’re dreamin’ out loud
Rebecca , you got your head in the clouds , alright
Savin’ yourself for someone
Rebecca , ooh , you’re runnin’ away
Rebecca , you can’t face the day , alright
You only live for the night , Rebecca
Rebecca , you’re dreamin’ out loud
Rebecca , you got your head in the clouds , alright
Savin’ yourself for someone , Rebecca (fade)
[/i]
Particularly like the bit about the devil in disguise…maybe I outta change my title to that 😀
