Well done mate! It is a Stampe SV5 built in latvia. There where 10 SV5 planes exported from Belgium to Latvia. Those examples built in Belgium had a Armstrong-Siddeley 340-hp Serval 5 engine. In 1938, another 6 SV5 where built under contract by VEF in Latvia and they had a Cheetah IX radial engine. So the mystery is solved. 🙂

Is the machine Stampe-Vertongen SV-5?

I’m glad that my first quiz doesn’t seem to be so easy.
But:
You’re right galdri! It’s a Cheetah engine! The first step in the right direction!

Is the engine an Armstrong-Siddeley Cheetah?
By: Stieglitz - 7th December 2004 at 18:50
Yes, the engine is british. But what about the plane? 😉
I have 2 more pics of this plane and maybe I will post them if the plane remains a mistery for you guys.

Galdri, you’ve got the engine rotation wrong. This one turns counter-clockwise as seen from the cockpit, meaning it could be a British engine.

Ok! This is not as easy as I thought 😀 I used to think my aircraft recognition was up to standard, but I’ll have to scrap that idea 😉 😀
Now to state the obvious (in the hope someone will finish). It is an interwar biplane. It has an engine turning anti- clock-wise as seen from the cockpit, which rules out the engine being german. The Tail is high set on the fuselage, probably as high or higher than the cockpit with a V-brace struts on the undersite and wires on the top surface. It also has a gun-sight for the front cockpit which would probably make it a fighter-trainer.
I thought it Might be a two seat Gloster Gauntlet. But I’m wrong. 😮

Did you notice that. Although I would also like to know what type of plane this was before it got broke! :diablo:
PS: I don’t think it wil be able to attend Legends 2005 (but I could be wrong).
