Dear People,
Is there anyone at this forum who can help me to learn more about pre-war Smith gauges? A friend of me is searching for a smith av 422 or 455, but this number seems to be completly unknown by the historians he talked with.
Anyone of you knows more ?
thanks in advance,
Mathieu

Dear Sir,
Don´t worry, I´ll try everything to find this gauges.
They will be used for a Koolhoven FK 51 replica ( www.koolhoven.com), this is a biplane aircraft of which arround 150 were built for the dutch army air service.
Do you perhaps know if it is true that smith aviation gauges also were used in British cars? I heard romours about this but never found confirmation about it.
best regards,
Mathieu

Hi Sonderman,
I think it will be difficult to track these gauges down. They do not seem to be military gauges and so will not have been made in large quantity.
Still, everything is possible, so don’t give up hope!

Hi mathieu,
Here are a couple of pre-war ads referring to the Av455 instrument. It looks to be some kind of generic pressure gauge. I’ll look for something on the Av422.
