Smoke alert diverts passenger jet…!

Some breaking news for you…

An American Airlines flight en-route to JFK from LHR had to make an emergency landing in Dublin this morning.

Can anyone confirm whether it has left DUB yet or not?

Two different threads merged :S Confusing.

The Monarch aircraft was a 757 I believe.

I wasn’t aware that Monarch operated 747’s 😮

Can anyone verify this?

If so, where do they operate from/to?

No mate – Monarch don’t operate the 747 😀
Maybe their was a mistake in the BBC article that’s now been corrected?

The AA flight arrived around 10am and left about 1130am once the engineers checked it over and realised the problem was the oven in the galley and not anything more serious. At the same time the diversion was taking place a fuel truck overturned on the ramp also!
Later that evening an Aer Lingus A320 burst a tyre on landing and had to be escorted to the gate by the Fire Service.

All in all a busy day at DUB for the emergency crews! :dev2:

180 passengers on a Monarch 747. That’s impressive 😉

Thought I wouldn’t bother starting a new topic for this, but a Monarch flight has diverted to Athens due to the pilot turning ill, story here:

I was going to ask the same thing
I think it came in about 10am,& enginneers sorted the problem fairly quickly,so i’d say it left a few hours later,i’d go up to check but my transport is out of action 😡

Hmmm – seems another one of these media shock horror stories.
135 pax doesn’t sound like a great load either.

I’m nearly sure I heard AAL115 earlier outbound again across the Atlantic.
