Smoking

Smoking.

A filthy habit or just another thing the government are trying to nannie?

(Note: I don’t smoke, never have, never will, and for my own health reasons I am against it)

So… Should parents be allowed to smoke in their own car when there are kids in the back?

Years ago I was given a lift home from somewhere (I can’t remember if it was school or somewhere else) with a mate whose dad was driving and, in the ten or fifteen minutes the journey took we were subjected to two cigarettes and the interior smelt like an ashtray and there seemed to be a permanent smog between us and the front windscreen. I was ill afterwards, needing to sit outside and get some air rather than get in out of the rain. But it was his right to smoke and share it with his son, wasn’t it?
I remember Roy Castle, who died of lung cancer despite never smoking – but singing in jazz clubs was just as effective. Not that I am saying that smoking in a car is comparable to smoking in a jazz club, just that it has been shown that lung cancer is no respecter of lifestyle choices.

Should smoking be banned in cars with children in, or not?
