So… the ERJ-170… how does it look?

I have to say, it looks a bit shorter than I’d imagined it.

This is the third production a/c, in the now defunct Crossair scheme.

RE: So… the ERJ-170… how does it look?

When I first saw this jet in “Flight International” i simply loved it. I think it is one of them “cute and cuddy” jets!

Anyone Agree?

RE: So… the ERJ-170… how does it look?

Yes Kabir, i’m looking forward to the 190.

The 170 looks fairly ok. The small engines and funny looking tail section don’t do it for me and i spose it could have been a bit longer. But its been designed to be efficent in its role i guess…not the way it looks!

The ERJ 190 looks very nice though.

Ben

Jolly good…

…the nose is slightly deformed but it’s a nice aircraft and if BA were to add some to their already huge fleet, they’d look great!

Looks quite nice actually. I’ve not heard much about this aircraft at all, only knew it had been built when I saw a picture in Airliner World.

Does anyone know who else have ordered it, if its in service yet and if we’ll be seeing it around the UK soon?

Right Kabir, I’m not arguing with that. I’m just saying that they should have been designed with putting the engines in the back, in mind. But then, I’m not an engineer, what do I know! I just like the way RJ’s look, much better, when they have tail mounted engines. The look more “RJ-esque.” Or, if they have wing mounted engines, for the wings to be mounted on top the fuselage a la the Bae 146 and the Do 328/428Jet.

RE: So… the ERJ-170… how does it look?

well..as you can see in the present design mounting the engines at the back is impossible. The engines will not be very effective….they will have re-design the whole fuselage if the idea of mounting the engines at the back comes to them.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-05-02 AT 04:04 PM (GMT)]The engines do look small, but if they were mounted on the fuselage in the rear, they would look normal. I think it looks too much like a ‘jet’ and not enough like a ‘regional jet.’ I also feel the same way about the Dornier 528/728/928Jets. Keep the engines in the back, and the fuselage lower to the ground for easy access!

yeh…. i think the whole thing looks kinda weird!!

Its like a citation x thats bn over inflated or summic – can’t quite put my finger on it.

Anyone else think that the engines look small???
