So what is everything made from?

When I consider just how much more we know and understand than we did 50 years ago it is amazing. And who knows what the next 50 years will bring? I wish I could see it!!

Absolutely ,agreed 100% .I do have this feeling that we will NEVER be allowed total knowledge,i don’t know why or by who BUT i just don’t think everything will be known.

Guess I missed something, as I am still no wiser.

O.K. BUT the big bang, is only a theory. And at the end of the day, what has the finding out of the big bang achieved?. Just employing many people for Donkeys years, and for what?. What will it have achieved, will it make yous or my life any better? Why are we not exploring the Seas, Oceans on our own planet, little of which is known.

Well we are are learning more and more about our planet and about us every day. But for me science fact has always been more interesting than science fiction so the more we understand about the cosmos the more it adds to our total understanding. I joked above, of course, but for many their natural curiosity will always demand more knowledge and ultimately more answers. And the closer one gets to the end of life the more intriguing it becomes, for me at least. When I consider just how much more we know and understand than we did 50 years ago it is amazing. In am now convinced, having read the latest on Bicep2 and gravity waves, that Douglas Adams was right all along and the answer is indeed “42”.

That there was nothing – totally nothing and at an instant there was the Bang.

By ‘nothing’ you mean ‘no matter’…..but there could have been ‘energy’?

And since energy and matter are interconnected and you can convert energy into matter and vice versa…

I think the thing to remember is that the ‘Big Bang’ wasn’t when everything was created from nothing; just when the universe changed into its current form from whatever form (or lack of form) existed before.

Ah but that’s not what Big Bang theorists believe.

I think the thing to remember is that the ‘Big Bang’ wasn’t when everything was created from nothing; just when the universe changed into its current form from whatever form (or lack of form) existed before.

Also ‘stuff’ in our universe mainly consists of inconceivably small things…..mainly made from gaps and forces.

I don’t think the latest news on the evidence for the inflation theory will deflate the strongly held belief of the opposing theories of parallel universes and other concepts which deny the Big Bang.

I would guess it is a combination of sheer power,lengths of time we can’t imagine and evolution in the smallest degrees.I have no idea but i find this really exciting.They interviewed someone on radio 5 and they were asked about looking through the big bang into what was there beforehand -wow.
