Sorry Kev35 but i actually wrote that reply before i found out about the crash. It is a shame that someone died and my sympathies go out to all concerned but threads are not going to stop and people will still make posts.

I’m sorry Alexis, but does it matter about display distances and who will or will not fly to those limits? Now is not the time for that discussion.

A man died at Coventry today, I think that fact overrides all other discussions at the moment, don’t you?

That’s just what i was going to say. If the leader of the Red Arrows can alter his display line for 9 aeroplanes then surely the pilot of the Lanc can do the same.

“The reason the Lancaster will not be there is that the BBMF required a 100m display line/crowd line seperation. The CAA require 75m and Coventry have made it 85m. It was not considered worth changing for just a maximum of three aircraft””

if thats true then that is rather annoying . Why doesnt the BBMF extend their display line back 100 metres?????

Hope to meet some of you there, though I don’t know how as I don’t know anybody. If you see somebody 50ish walking around, accompanied by two ladies, t’other half and my mum, wearing a DH teeshirt with an Olympus SLR on his shoulder, it’s a fair bet it’ll be me.
Heard a rumour tonight the Lanc was U/S last weekend. Anybody know any more?

If today is anything to go by it should be superb. The Electra and DC6 will be doing spray passes – should be interesting with a cross wind onto the crowd. Sounds were superb. Enjoy it but give a thought for the poor bvggers getting sunburnt to give you a good time.:o

Well Damien thats true the Vixen is coming and after the things that Cirrus and I said perhaps we should not go. But on the other hand we need to see for ourselves to confirm just how tacky it looks, you never know we might be pleasantly surprised, unlikely but we’ll see. Actually Cirrus has a bit of a dialema , he will be working for one of the mags over on the live side all day and I’d imagine they will want some nice piccies to publish.
Anyway there are lots of other gems there to attract my attention, Nordatlas, DC2, Ryan rep and the lovely F86 to mention a few.
No Lanc though, a bit dissapointing but I’m sure there ares ound reasons, Fluffy any ideas ?

I will be there on sunday. I can’t wait, looks to be one of the best airshows for a long time. Hoping not to be disappointed.
Of course i won’t be, the Breitling Fighters are going. Oh and the Sea Vixen.

I was hoping to go as Coventry is less than an hour from home. Unfortunately, health problems have intervened and I’m not going to be able to make it. 🙁

I understand the DC-6 is flying so would be obliged if anyone can post a couple of photos.

Many thanks,

I’m going tomorrow.
Forgot to book tickets in advance so it’s full price for 3 adults. Ouch.

Philo,

According to Avi8, the only people that are going to Coventry for sure are Alexis Lambert and myself.
Still, it will be nice to have an unobstructed view of the action.
