is virtually ever major aviation publication sold in America, is of British origin? it boggles me how the Americans let go of this field unopposed.

What in the Hell are you talking about, in my local book store their is only four British based Publications all of them are Key.

For US we have the following,

All of Challenge Stuff(Air Comics)
Wings
Air and Space
Warbird Digest
Flight
Avaition History
Modern Combat Aircraft

these are just a few off the top of my head.
