Hi guys.
Going to put this out to all you more experienced guys out there.
The 3 shots below have been knocked back by JP for “Cropping / Photo edges / Size Ratio” Can anyone explain to me where i am going wrong as regards the cropping etc… i have many other similar shots accepted that are cropped exactly the same.
These were rejected……….

This got accepted… not too unlike the UA 767 shot?
This also accepted… IMO not unlike the 777 and 757 shots…..
Any advice please as i am thinking of appealling the decisions since (IMO) i feel the shots are fairly decent.
Thanks guys.

Scotty, the 3 were rejected as far as I can see because they’re not cropped with either a 3:2 or 4:3 aspect ratio that JP require. The other 2 that were accepted are only a few pixels outside 3:2 so I guess they were a bit lenient on those. If you’re using photoshop to edit, select the crop tool and simply put a 3 in Width and 2 in Height to get 3:2 or a 4 in Width and a 3 in Height for 4:3. Personally I always think 3:2 looks far more balanced for aviation photography but JP will accept both. A slightly tighter crop on the UA would certainly work better though, as Matt suggests.
Hope that helps!

Thanks Matt.
Actually i thought the sharpening was a bit heavy myself but no mention of it in the rejection.. Fair point about the cropping on the UA, will try a re-crop doing that and see how it goes.. cheers again, appreciate the feedback.
