I have uploaded a set on Yahoo with some Wreck & Relics in Belgium.
Most of these were made at Kleine Brogel airbase
3 Derelict F-104 Starfighters and 5 other preserved airframes at the base museum
The set also includes some photos of preserved airframes at Koksijde airshow last year and the “For Freedom” museum at Knokke.
all other are taken from public roads

F-104G STARFIGHTER, FX-61 & FX-02

F-84F THUNDERSTREAK, FU-66 (BLu RA-T)
and hardly visible from the public road is German AF F-104 26+47 :
F-104G STARFIGHTER, 26+47 (German Air Force)

The answer is yes, Wyvernfan. The early ‘104s had the downward firing seat but very soon the pitfalls became apparent!!! However, the access remained and the seats are/were removed this way.

I notice the Starfighter in the second shot is missing its cockpit floor. Considering how some Starfighters had downward firing ejection seats was this maybe due to the way the ejection seat was removed ?

Intresting question Rob ,but my technical study on this 104 is limited to a few snapshots.
I only asume there is some kind of floor panel underneath the seat and the lower belly panel.
It would be a technical challenge to exit the fighter downwards with metal skin panels and a floorpanel.
Upwards looks much easier
