At the Swedish Air Force main air show (“Huvudflygdag”) (Rönneby 29’th August) there was some excellent historic planes in the air. (The J29 was missing – in search of an engine?)
B17 “Blue Johan” thrown about with élan. Clearly it was a fine divebomber in its day – and all the other things it did.
Lansen. A fully aerobatic show. It occurs to me, this is what the Hunter could have been. Afterburner, radar and adequate fuel?
A very well kept Draken.
The next-to-last JaktViggen display. The final one will be at Östersund 9’th October. It certainly lives up to its name – Viggen = Thunderbolt! 😉

The new Gripens zipped around like demented flying saucers – (no offence) – but look what’s under the belly of some of them. That “square” fueltank is originally built in Denmark (Per Udsen) for the Danish Drakens. (carried in pairs). They were refurbished by Danish Aerotech and sold to Sweden, that hadn’t used them priviously. Their Draken tanks were “round”.
A lovely day in Sweden’s “garden”-country.

I have a picture of a Lansen i took in Gotland, along with an interesting AN-2 Colt. Maybe the one that defected there? Also have a rather worse for wear Swedish Centurion tank pic, went on behind my car on the ferry back to Nynyshamm 😮
