I met up with KevinWM last night briefly at GLA, mainly to give him a dvd of a GLA documentary, but took the camera as well and caught a few low light moments…. 😀

Nice ones there Allen, the Q400’s look great. It appears that someone really ‘funny’ has rated this thread with 1 star 🙁
No wonder, some of my horizons are all over the place ! :diablo:
Happy snaps to set me up for the season.

Nice pics!
Isn’t GLA situated in Renfrew? I was there last year, and I’m sure the area was called that? Maybe you could clear that up for me Allen?

No it’s in Abbotsinch, the former airport “Renfrew Airport” was in Renfrew. It closed in 1966 when “Abbotsinch” opened. Approaching the current airport from the city by motorway will have you on the site of the Renfrew runway which now forms part of the M8 between junctions 26 and 27.
You can’t miss it, it’s straight as a die !!! 😀

Glad you liked it, Glasgow International (GLA) is still referred to as Abbotsinch, this being the name of the area where the airport is situated. Much like Manchester-Ringway and Edinburgh-Turnhouse.
Much like Birmingham Int. (Elmdon) 😎 😀

The airport is know more commonly as Glasgow International than Glasgow Abbotsinch
Glasgow International
&
Glasgow Prestwick
I think you’ll find it is still regularly called Abbotsinch amongst pilots and other airline professionals. The Glasgow International etc is aimed at joe-public who dont know any better.
