That’s Billy Drake on the far left.
He was in tonight’s Spitfire Ace TV programme.
Billy is also due to star in a major programme in the near future. Segments were being filmed in France, at the crash site of his Hurricane, as far back as Autumn 2002.
Quite a character. I am looking forward to it.

I take it this would be the thread where someone could tell me what “Pussy”s real name was in Paul Richey’s book “Fighter Pilot”? 🙂
Dan
Who would like to know the real names of these guys from 1 Squadron in France 1940

DDM,
I think this must be your pilot’s grandson on a recent visit to our museum 😀

In fact, following my informations,he became Wing Co of 239 wing in july 43 and then commander of 53 and 61 0TU.
After the war,he became representative of Shell company and then of SABENAin USAI never heard that he worked for Cathay.But…perhaps.

….and before that Commander of 324 Wing, of which 43 Sqd. was a component, where he sported a personal Spitfire MJ628 with the code R*duV.

ettrick40: I’m impressed. Am I right in saying he later became a CAThay Pacific pilot?
