some idiots never learn

You may have heard before of passengers fooling around at the security check, this story is even better.

In Belgium an A300 bound for the Domonican Republic has been held at the airport for over 8 hours after a joke. Next to that one of Brussels’ runways was closed.

One of the passengers sent a text message to his girlfriend saying his flight had been highjacked. The girlfriend was quick to alert the police. They decided to keep the flight from leaving for a full 8 hours while passengers where screened and the plane was checked for explosives and whatnot.

The flight eventually left, but of course without the comedian.

Was that a Monarch A300, I don’t see any other charter airline using A300’s. It must have been an A300-600R, That’s the only a300 with the range for such route.

ARMED police stormed a plane at Heathrow yesterday after suspicions were raised over three passengers.
The men, thought to be of Arabic origin, were removed from the flight to Brussels minutes from take-off.
Witnesses claimed the trio had been talking about how to gain access to the cockpit of the bmi (British Midland) flight. Services to Brussels were under heightened surveillance, it is believed, because of the EU summit there.
A source on flight BD145 said of the men: “They were talking in Arabic about how to take hold of the aircraft.
“A woman sitting nearby who understood the language overheard them and informed staff.
“They rang the police immediately as a precaution. Everyone was relieved to get out.” The three had arrived in Britain on a Gulf Air flight from Bahrain, it was suggested. “Suspicious literature” was later said to have been found in their baggage.
The alert came on the 8.30am to Brussels from Heathrow’s Terminal One. The 93 passengers went back to the terminal while the jet was checked.
They were put on a replacement aircraft nearly three hours later.
Police said: “Officers spoke to those passengers who had raised concerns. The officers were armed, as is normal procedure at the airport.” British Midland said: “The flight was boarding.”
Last night the men were released without charge after eight hours’ detention.

Instead of “what do you think,” you should have posted that little soap opera in the first place.
