Some interesting things seen on my travels this week.

Interested in any info you may have on these items. Unfortunately I have no more info except the pictures.

From memory the glass canopy and frame are real although the cockpit body built around it is a mockup (incl the grip). Still a niece shop front display piece.

This does not look authentic to me, the connection between the windscreen frame and the canopy is all wrong.

Thought I would have a look at the aero antique shop in Dorking today. Nice that such a shop such as this exists.

Good to have an aviation antique shop in Dorking, Surrey! Nice crew seat in the background too.

That’s a very nice looking Halifax/Hastings wireless operators seat. Would be nice for the new Canadian Halifax project.
Spitfire canopy looks suspicious.

It would have been ten years ago or more since I’ve been there; me and my brother called in on the way back from Shoreham Aerojumbe if I recall correctly…

…Tiger tank track-links I think!

Actually, I think I’ve been in that model shop; has it got real tank track-links on the floor?

Not now, but may have had. The owner is a military vehicles fan. I’ll ask him next time I see him.

Parking is free at Waitrose (we now have the largest in the country, so you can bring better halves), and both shops are then one minute from it’s West Street pedestrian entrance.

The Spitfire model looks a lot like this one www.iwmshop.org.uk/product/24540/Metal_Spitfire_model even down to the wing break lines. There is one on dispaly in the shop at Duxford, only £520.00.

That metal Spitfire is gorgeouse, I imagine the price is too.
Might be an idea for someone to start a thread ” In my local antique store” ??
In January I was in one just south of where I live & they have an old propeller hub.
Wish I had had a camera with me.
Thanks for the post hampden98.

Both shops can be found in West Street, Dorking, RH14 1BL

Somewhere further a field in France is a proper mans shop, look at the left hand photo of the shop and scroll to walk around inside it.

It’s not far from one of the best model shops still around too.

Was the spitfire model made of metal and was there a price on it. looks very well made, by the photo. Thanks, also where in Birmingham?

No price. Entirely metal and looked very accurate. All metal and what looked like moving canopy and surfaces.
From memory it was in a small arcade in the center of town. I’ve only been to Birmingham once but if you know the area I’m sure it will be easy to find. It wasn’t out of the way at all.

Love the canopy / windscreen section. What was the asking price?

Rob

Wasn’t priced unfortunately.
