Here are a few Duxford shots from the early 1980s. Relative to today, there was still lots of space to display the aircraft but a lot more of them were outside and exposed to the elements.

Hi Shortfinals,
Thank-you for sending back the info I asked about.
It’s a bit of a mix like you say getting that copy sharp if you don’t have a good
sharp slide to start with.
Your other shots to highlight your point are spot on.
Lightning and CF101 are brill,Again thanks for replying….:)
Ps I am getting older and forgot where I had saw your photos
so sorry for delay in my reply..

Yes, it’s the same airframe. She was in “write-off” condition when she arrived at Dux and the museum restoration team did a remarkable job restoring her to her current glory.

What happened to the Mosquito?
Is it the same one hanging from Airspace?

They were done on a Nikon Coolscan V, which is a dedicated slide scanner, now out of production. It does give very good results and if the slides are sharp (not that many of mine are perfect!) a picture of similar quality to digital can be achieved. I have been using Photoshop for several years and it has a lot of features that I don’t use or know how to use! I also have a simple program called Focus Magic that can be used to sharpen the files before I shrink them to a suitable size for the Web.
Here are some more photos, from various years:

Thank-you for your reply and info.
They have come out good and were they done on a budget scanner or one of those dedicated types.
The reason I ask is I do a lot of scanning with a cheap copier and am always
asking people who scan what equipment they use. There is a lot of labour involved in the process so as a fellow copier I appreciate your images.I will have to learn how to use photoshop but I don’t like it as it seems very complicated to use and just stick with an old canon photoshop which is easy to use.
Anyway I digress keep up the good work and I find Kodachrome and agfa also good to copy for colour rendition.cheers..:)

They are scans from Fujichrome slides, with some Photoshop treatment to improve the colours and sharpness.
