OK, I know it’s not an airshow, but I couldn’t decide whether the GA or Historic sub-forum would be more appropriate. Anyway, the weather was very nice today so I thought it might be worth popping along to Old Warden for the afternoon to see if anything was flying and I was in luck:
Isaacs Fury had just arrived when I got there.

I could hear Harvard-esque noises coming from behind the trees on the other side so I waited around to see if whatever was making them would reveal itself. While I was waiting this very nice-looking SportCruiser departed.

The noise culprit revealed itself and departed.

Then it went quiet outside so I popped into the hangars for a bit to see if anything had changed in the last few weeks. The Spitfire has acquired a plastic sheet.

The Sea Hurricane has even more panels off than last time.

The Pup looks like it’s getting ready for Guy Fawkes Night!

The Lysander is amongst the many aircraft that currently have their engine covers off.

There’s something important missing off the front of the Falcon!

I was back outside again just in time to see this R44 arrive.

The Hawk Trainer had to be moved out of the way…

so the Storch could come out to play.

Then I spotted this Auster entering the circuit, so I got back over to the fence in time to see it land.

The Chipmunk was landing when I first arrived so I missed out on photographing it airborne then, but luckily it went up again for a short flight so I got it this time. It looked like it was about to go for another flight as I left too.

This arrived just before…

the Storch departed.

Then there were a couple more departures…

…before the Fury left. I’d been disappointed to arrive just too late to catch it airborne when it arrived, but this departure just before I got too cold and went home made up for it.

Enjoy.
Cheers,
Oz

The Shuttleworth Collection’s Spitfire is a Mk Vc, AR501, G-AWII
The wings are on the otherside of the workshop behind the photographer were they are both in jigs, one has had a few sections of skin removed, the other has been virtually dismantled and is being stripped of paint prior to inspection and re-riviting.
The fusilage, as you can see, has been had the paint removed, been inspected and re-rivited, all systems have been overhauled and refitted.
The replacement engine is safely stored awaiting fitting at the right point during the rebuild.
