Today I spend the day in the train, with a few hours at BRU in between! 😀 All in all I clogged up 13 hours in trains and stations, and 4,5 hours in the approach at BRU. That is one thing I won’t be doing again! Even Luton has more traffic! On average about 4 planes an hour!
I did not even get a chance at shooting a picture of the SNBA A320s as they all landed on the other runway, and the A330s where nowhere to be seen at all!
Anyway, here are some of the highlights I did get to see.
Lauda Air *** CRJ *** OE-LRG

Cool? No! But it is definately fun! I could not stop laughing when I saw the first pictures of it! And when I saw the plane for real I started laughing again! 😉
Sometimes planespotting can be really rewarding! 😀

14 million, that’s quite a bit. ATH handles what, about 10 mil? Yet, ATH probably handles more widebodies than does BRU. ATH gets service from SQ’s 777’s, TG’s MD11/777’s, OA A340’s, LH A300’s, DL 767’s amonst others. This is just speculation on my part.

when is said 4 lights that was a guess. Quite wrong. In my 4.5 hours there i saw 30 planes so about 7 per hour. Still not a lot for such a large city with that many international institutions. Most of the planes come in in groups. So 40 minutes with no flights and then 4 planes in 15 minutes followed by another half hour of nothing……. The last hour I spend at BRU i saw 4 planes so therefore i said that.
According to AW dec03 BRU handled 14.413.795 passengers. That places it on the 73rd position worldwide down from 46th in 2002. To compare, STN handles 16.049.288 (65th)

Nice pictures, but 4 planes an hour?! I always thought that BRU was a fairly busy European hub…….what are it’s annual passenger figures?

You did not warn me of that! You said everything except cargoes would go for 25L.

Peter I warned you that they all land before 8 in the morning! they depart back around 10 AM. SNBA is again preferred to land at 25R because that’s closer to the A pier.

I am ashamed to admit it was. I wanted to get some shots of SNBA’s airbusses, and I did not even get them!

Great photos! That is still my absolute favourite airport in Europe, and I cannot wait to land there again on 31st March!
I got some really good video footage of aircraft landing on that runway one Sunday in September 2003.
