Some questions

1) What kind of antennae do the E-2 and E-3 use? If I’m not wrong, the E-3 uses a slotted array mounted in the centre of the rotodome. Or is this a phased array?

Cutaway drawings of the E-2’s rotodome show very dated RF aerials. What kind of antennae are being used here really?

2) How the heck do IRSTs estimate the range of a target? The LRF goes only a few km so how are they able to track a target at longer ranges and cue missiles to them (without radar assistance) ?

3) How do RWRs make an estimate of the emitter’s range from the receiver?
