AFAIK that was to do with the RAF Leuchars, 43 Squadron “Fighting Cocks” being given the freedom of Stirling yesterday afternoon. I think you had a Harvard/Texan and a Catalina through EDI as part of the Stirling flypast?
Infact, no, there was a WWII weekend on a East Fortune I just discovered, that’s what it will have been for.

Would that be why there was a variety of interesting looking vintage military aircraft passing through EDI earlier on Sunday?

The Faslane (the nuclear sub base) Fair just up the coast, mind you the display was held just off of Helensburgh over the Firth of Clyde.

The display was cut short owing to a severe lack of weather.
An excess of weather, surely? 😉

The display was cut short owing to a severe lack of weather. 😀 The reds then went on to dump fuel in the Firth of Clyde near Arran before doing a quick flypast over PIK for the benefit of those attending the nearby Monkton gala day.
Also involved in the display at Faslane were a pair of Navy Lynx helicopters and Merlin.

It’ll be back in for the G8 summit in July, along with a whole host of exec/goverment planes from around the world including ‘Air Force 1’.
PIK will be closed for 4 hours to commercial traffic apparently whenDubya arrives? Ryanair are going to love it !!! 😀
