Some September Aviodrome and Lelystad pics

This month I took some pics of the aircraft around at Lelystad and the Aviodrome. Most interesting one is the new F27 that has been repainted into a full NLM livery, and the former Luftwaffe F104 now used along the road to direct the people to the museum. BW Roger

Here are a few I took about a month ago, including the Nord rebuild. I hadn’t seen the F2 replica in its complete form yet, looks great next to the F7.

One of the museum Connie insiders told me they were negotiating to get eninges of the MATS connie that went to South Korea, and is not destined to fly there.

One Connnie moves inside, they have to put the DC 4 outside, so it’s choosing between two evils.

Inside the museum the work on the Norseman and the Nord built me 108 offspring is progressing lovely

Hi Paul,

Here it is last saturday, it didn’t fly that day and unfortunatly the engines are covered. The DC2 is still recovering from the incident, and repairs are being made. Doubt if it will fly this year, but let’s hope it will be ready for the 2006 season.

I have also included a side shot of the F27. Unfortunatly, those 2 high viz jackets were around the machine all 3 hours we waited to shoot the machine. Hope to get a clean shot soon.

Got any pics of N47FK (fifi kate) as I have worked on that aircraft when it was based at Lee on Solent.

Has the DC2 been repaired yet ?

Connie engine nr 3 is now (almost) considered w/o , and according to a Dutch magazine, a new engine must be obtained, and for the insurance, well that might be an ever bigger problem.

The F27 is looking great. It isn’t certified for passenger flights yet, but it is hoped it will be before the Friendship celibrates its 50th anniversary in late November. This machine, the PH-FHF is the worlds oldest flying Friendship.

And yes Cees, you are right, in the future it will be fitted with running engines, but it will never fly again.

That historical Fokker is a Beauty (you simply can’t say it enough … 😮 )! I hope that the Connie gets back to full force, but we can only guess how much €€€€ this is going to cost. I do wish the team all the best!

I understand that they are obtaining engines for the orange dak to restore her to ground running condition.

Cheers

The latest I picked up about the Connie is that they are planning to move her indoors for the winter to work on the engine there. She is normally kept outside. There are some uncertainties in this plan though!

I hadn’t seen the F27 in NLM colours yet, looks absolutely lovely! I’ll need to dig out some very old photos to compare it with 😉
