After over a month I finally had some time to spend a while at AMS. I’ll start with a photo of the former Aviodrome. This is now slowly being torn down to be moved elsewhere in Haarlem. In the future it will serve as a church. The dome consists of many loose pieces and these pieces are taken out, and later reassembled, one by one. You can see here that the top of the roof is arleady gone.

Some excellent shots, whats the background on Fly Air, i can’t say iv’e ever heard of them before, and i must say, that livery is as simple and bland as they come

Some beautiful shots Pete. The pulkovo 154 is in my opinion the best of the bunch.
Great job! 🙂

I’ve been several times, and yes it is! Even better when you have Peter take you to all the spots.

An if you’ve never been there AMS is one of the best airports in Europe.

Actually, I’ve been meaning to update you guys on that, as well. Turns out I chose AMS as my ‘gateway.’ I got roundtrip business class airfare from ONT-AMS using my mileage. I’ll be flying a combination of TED, United, and Singapore flights. Today I’m going to finalize the AMS-ATH portion through my travel agent. I looked into Virgin Express and was pleased at how cheap that price was, but I really prefered to fly through Amsterdam. He found Olympic Airways rountrip for 365Euro which is a little over $500US. KLM was about $100 more, and Lufthansa is a few hundred more than that. Knowing me, I’m probably going to wind up paying the extra amount just so I don’t sacrifice 2,000 miles. At the end of the year, when I have around 48,000, and need to get to 50,000, I’ll be glad I did.

i’d like to know that as well cause i could only find return rates well in excess of 1000 euros! 😮

Does it mean that you could manage to get a fair price to fly to ATH via AMS?

Sounds like a plan.

Fantastic photos Peter, as usual. I approve of those new spots. I’m going to be in AMS on 2 different occassions this summer (as I was discussing on a thread 2 days ago asking about loco’s and prices). The first occassion I will have roughly 2 days, from July 22-24 which is Thursday-Saturday. If you guys want to do a meet up, I’d be down. Friday the 23rd would be the best as I arrive on the Thursday and leave on the Saturday. If this is not convenient, then I understand. People have school/work, etc.
I think I could manage to meet up with you on one of those dates Dude.:D

If anyone has seen the programme on Discovery Wings about Air shows presented by John Nichol is the last photo where the spitfire (or something like that) flies along in the opening credits and before and after breaks?

Great pictures Pete, particularly like that World Airways shot! I really have to get over to Amsterdam in the Summer, I can fly from STN return inc taxes for as little as £36 on Easyjet 😀

Good, good good… I wish I had some of these more interesting planes in Belgium :(.
Nice perspective of that last one:).

last shot, off topic perhaps but I like it.
the Fly Air plane I posted earlier was shot from a bridge. This is what the view is on the other side of that bridge.
